FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

University of Hawai’i President David Lassner will join President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama and Vice President Joe Biden at the White House College Opportunity Summit on Thursday, Dec. 4. The summit will bring together colleges and universities, business leaders, nonprofits and others that are committed to supporting more college opportunities for students across the country.

This year’s summit will focus on building sustainable collaborations in communities with strong K-12 and higher education partnerships to encourage students to attend college.  The summit will also focus on supporting colleges that work together to dramatically improve college completion, especially for first generation, low-income, and underrepresented students.

“I am excited to be invited to another White House Summit.  The Hawaii Graduation Initiative is one of the University of Hawai’i System’s major strategic priorities and this will be a wonderful opportunity to share Hawaii's progress and plans and to learn about best practices from around the country,” said Lassner.
