This book, published in August 1998, includes 473 sayings collected by Elizabeth Inia over a period of years. Each saying is presented in the Rotuman language with an accompanying English translation. The saying is then explained in Rotuman with English translation. In addition, a description of relevant contexts in which each saying is used is presented (in English). For an example, see the "Proverb of the Week" selection on this website. The Sayings are accompanied by an essay written by Alan Howard and Jan Rensel on the "Rotuman Culture as Reflected in its Sayings." |
