Campus: Leeward Community College Course: ACC 137 - Business Income Taxes
Department:   Accounting Crn (Section):   55236 (0)

1.   Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
All aspects of this course are valuable. Tax is important and learning how to tax system works is even more important.
To me, the aspect of the course that helped the most were the lectures where Mr. Kamida explained how to do problems. It helped me to figure out how to do the forms.
The online lectures were great! They really help to understand some of what is missed in the readings and watching them only helps to reiterate what we already learned. The weekly activities were a benefit also as they made the online class seem more interactive.
Learning about the different type of businesses (i.e LLC, Partnerships, etc.) and how each type has a different way of reporting their income. Very informative information.
Some aspects that were valuable were the tax forms and how to fill them out. His projects were also helpful because it was like we were doing our own.
The feedback from the professor. He really helps the students understand not only what is correct and incorrect, but he helps us to understand why we got certain things wrong. That helped me to learn.
the most valuable aspect of this course is the professor. Professor Kamida is very knowledgable in taxes, business, and accounting just to name a few. his knowledge makes it easier to understanding the tax laws and how they apply.
learning about sole proprietorships for my own business, and to be introduced to the interworkings of business taxes.
Knowledge of how businesses pay taxes and keep certain records for that purpose.
Videos and homework solutions
I think Mr. Kamida's online instructional videos helped a lot. I only started using them midway thru the semester and I found it summarized the important parts and made it easier for me to understand. The text was challenging for me because so many terms were new to me so I had to re-read things over and over, but somehow when I watched the videos, it made more sense and the concept was brought across more clearly.
The instructor, textbook, online material(quizzes and review questions), video lectures and hands on assignments(filling out tax forms).
The videos was definitely a plus for me. It helped me grasp the subject better than just reading the textbook.
The video lectures and chapter folders.
Despite this course being an online course Mr. Kamida made learning the material for this course somewhat easier. The many handouts and videos that he posted for us were very useful.
The instructors knowledge on the material and the questions he answered throughout the semester were extremely valuable.
The amount of resources and online lectures. Course was very well organized.
Because I work in a banking industry, learning about the different business entities are helpful in my job.
I find the hands on aspect of filling out actual tax forms the most valuable.
the education of business income taxes
I like the videos on the class. also the professor makes the class more at easy, tax classes are hard but he makes easy to understand. slide shows are very helpful and the quizzes are good tools to help study this comlicated class.
Having a knowledgeable professor is extremely helpful. Mr. Kamida also gives us updates on what is due. The flexibility that the online course gives us is also a major plus.
Video lectures. Solutions to homework problems from the book so I could check my work and make sure I was understanding material.

2.   Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
I can't think of anything not valuable in the course.
Some of the extra credit work was not of value to me because it only was for students on Oahu.
Not having an up to date book.
I found all aspects of this course to be very valuable.
Nothing was least valuable because everyhting he taught online was valuable.
Nothing I can think of at this time.

I feel everyone has a different way of learning, so any type of learning resource available is always a good thing. Everything in this class had value and purpose.

I guess the only thing that I didn't like about the course was that it was an online course. Online courses are great but I would have liked this course in particular to be live.

I know this can't be helped, but I don't like how we are studying last year's tax information. If there was a way to study the current tax laws, that would be so much more helpful.

I did not like the book very much. It will be better if has a detail breakdown of how to use tables and how to do the calculations. Also a simpler english will be good sometime the explanation does not makes sense to me.
Least valuable thing is that it is online; it isn't where you can call or go in, ask questions and speak to another student at any time because it is online and we are on our own. I wish the course could have more time dedicated to the Business taxes.
Nothing. Class is set up very well.

9.   What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?
Mr. Kamida plays an important role in making this course valuable and interesting. His timely response to students' questions encourages students to ask and learn. Not only will he answer all questions regarding tax issues, he also welcome questions related to other accounting issues. He is always helpful and approachable.
He was quick to respond to any questions we had. He also went over forms step b step so that it was understood.
Mr. Kamida answers any question you ask and finds information to support where he is coming from. He is very knowledgeable of the subject!
He gives very detailed instruction on what needs to be done and where to look for resources for help. I also enjoyed the fact that he has lecture videos online.
he answers his emails on time
He is very willing and able to help students out with assignments. He emphasizes the importance of knowing how and why you are getting the answers, not just getting the right answers. He is one of the best professors of getting the homework assignments graded in a timely manner and getting feedback to the students very quickly! Awesome instructor!
by far his knowledge is the most valuable. He is helpful to ensure that you understand the course and if not he will go into detail until you understand. If he doesn't have the answer right then he researches and updates us on usefull information.
he is always there to answer your questions. and help whenever needed
Ease of contact. Prompt through email.
I enjoy Professor Kamida's format. I look forward to taking other classes from him in the future
His knowledge. I was impressed in the beginning when we students were allowed to ask any type of tax question and he pretty much had an answer (very detailed) for everyone of us. I think accounting is something Mr. Kamida is passionate about, and you can see that by the way he explains and shares his knowledge with his students.
Mr. Kamida is well organized, fair, helpful and his communication skills are excellent. He follows the class schedule and updates grades on a regular consistent basis. Questions and concerns sent through e-mail are answered very efficiently. He gives you the opportunity to dispute any exam questions by citing from the text. He regularly posts links and information directly related to the class subject making the class more interesting and relateable. Also, he is one of the few instructors that will post messages about unique opportunities for Accounting students and/ or just general info about activities on campus.
Very prompt and always available.
The quick response to questions.
If we had question he would always answer them in a timely manner. I never had to wait too long for a reply.
His knowledge on the subject.
He answers all questions promptly and clearly.
Mr. Kamida takes a genuine interest in his students. Although we are an online class, I can see that he wants every student to understand and succeed.
Professor Kamida does an excellent job with his video lectures. He is the only Professor that I have taken an online class from who actually goes over a powerpoint slideshow with a marker and his voice. It's like being in class, but better. The lectures are available 24 hours a day, any day of the week.
he let us know that he received homework and replied as soon as possible.
His videos are very good. I like to watche them also i use the slide shows a lot. easy access to forms we need. like those email with more information about the accounting world he shares with us. very nice professor.
Mr. Kamida was helpful because he was very knowledgeable about the topics he teaches. He would also get back to us if we have any questions or will let us know when he is available to answer questions.
Truely is one of the best teachers LCC has!

Well, let's see I guess he could have come to my house and taken my exams for me. Just kidding. Great class.

11.   My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
He an excellent mentor and I will give a 120% out of a 100% (the extra 20% comes from extra credits I give me for being there for his students).
He is an excellent teacher. You can tell he is really interested in making sure students learn and he encourages everyone. He quickly answers any questions asked and posts it for everyone else to see.
Mr. Kamida is a great instructor and one of the best online instructors that I have had. He has taught me a lot.
I enjoy taking Mr. Kamida's class. This is actually the second class that I had with him. I hope to have the opportunity to be in another one of his classes soon.
great, he is a good teacher and i will recomend him to my friends.
He is one of my most favorite instructors at LCC. He is stays on top of things and he seems very dedicated to teaching his students. My very first internet class is a success because of his great teaching ability!
Professor Kamida makes learning taxes enjoyable he goes beyond your expectation of a teacher to ensure we are learning the material not just to pass the course but that we may apply it for future use.
He is a great teacher and always willing to help.
No comment. (Online class)
very good professor
Good Instructor! Knows his stuff. Was good having him as my accounting teacher.
He is a very dedicated professor that I would recommend taking any class from in-person or online. His communication skills are great, you never have to worry about unanswered e-mails or delayed responses.
Mr. Kamida is very knowledgeable in accounting and the tax world as a whole. The course itself was a little challenging but because of his desire to help, this course was worth taking.
the learning structure that Mr Kamida has put together was well organized and helped me to understand the materials fully.
Overall I think that Mr. Kamida is a great teacher.
great teacher.
Knowledgeable and fair. Keeps students up-to-date with their grades and assignments.
Great Instructor!
He is a great contribution to LCC. He is very responsive to e-mails and always willing to put in extra time and effort to ensure that his students understand the material.
excellent because he is organized, lets us know when he received homework, he always lets us know the homework the week prior. He is knowledgeable about the subject.
He is a very good professor, I have recommed him already to anyone taking tax classes with him.
awesome teacher, very knowledgeable and thorough on what he is teaching.
Very good, I highly recommend this instructor!

12.   Other comments:
It will be good if there are more tax classes. Tax is an important and complicated subject. ACC 134 and ACC 137 can only provide students with a brief understanding of the tax system. It will be good to have ACC 234 and ACC 237 for students who want to go into detail. I know there are other higher level tax courses available at UH Manoa and West Oahu, but not every student will be further their education beyond AAS.
Great class with a great instructor - everyone should have an instructor like Mr. Kamida.

This is one Professor I would recommend to future students interested in tax or accounting courses. Thanks Professor Kamida.
i would definately make a point take other classes taught by him.
Would have loved the class if I had the option to attend a physical class every once a week at least to easily solve certain issues with the content. Some type of hybrid class would be convenient for this subject.
Thank you for all your advice and support.

Mr. Kamida, I am not sure if it is my computer or what but when I play some of the slides, it sometimes seems as if the lecture gets broken up. Thank you for all of you hard work and answering our questions in a timely manner.
Thank you for another great semester!
