McAfee announced that Oct. 31, 2013 is the end of life (EOL) and end of support (EOS) date for the McAfee 5400 Anti-Malware (scan) Engine. Your McAfee scan engine should now be at version 5600.1067.
All users of McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.8, McAfee Antivirus Plus and McAfee Security for the MacIntosh software obtained through the UH software download site, should have automatically received the new 5600 scan engine. Note: if you are running older versions of VirusScan Enterprise (VSE), ie version 8.5 or 8.7, please upgrade to VSE 8.8 patch 2 (or patch 3 for Windows 8). The older versions of VSE 8.x are no longer supported. The newer DAT files will only be certified on the new 5600 scan engine; they may not work properly with the old scan engine which is a security risk.
