General Office Safety - Hans O. Nielsen, UH EHSO Education Coordinator.

This session covers safety issues commonly found in the office environment. We will discuss the basics of OSHA and how workplace safety standards apply to the university, tenets of hazard recognition and risk control in the workplace, basic electrical safety, tripping hazards, emergency response, and other general issues workers might encounter.

Ergonomics in the Office - Hans O. Nielsen, UH EHSO Education Coordinator.
This session covers ergonomics in the office environment. We will discuss the basics of ergonomics, fitting the office setting to our workers and getting office employees to think about workstations, non-workstation “workstations” (tablets and cell phones, etc), factors that induce body stress, how to best position their bodies at work, safe lifting techniques, and ways to improve ergonomics economically.

Indoor Air Quality - Emma Kennedy, UH EHSO Industrial Hygienist.
This session covers indoor air quality (IAQ) in the work environment. We will discuss how IAQ assessments are conducted, what we look for that may indicate an IAQ problem and what federal and state guidelines/recommendations exist for IAQ.
