UH Hilo presents first PhD diploma

The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo awarded its first PhD in December 2008.
Maori educator Katarina Edmonds received the doctorate in indigenous language and culture revitalization.
The degree is offered by Hilo’s Ka Haka ʻUla O Keʻelikōlani College of Hawaiian
Language.
Edmond’s dissertation was The Reliability and Validity of the Maori Language Proficiency in Writing Test: Kaiaka Reo Year 8.
