Phytotelmata and phylloplane: Leaf traits mediate biotic interactions
Dr. Kadeem Gilbert, an Assistant Professor at Michigan State University, will share the latest on his work to understand symbioses between plants and other organisms, and how those relationships can be altered by the plant itself. Dr. Gilbert works largely on carnivorous plants and their symbionts, and uses a variety of approaches including field observation, manipulative experiments, phylogenetic comparative methods, DNA metabarcoding, transcriptomics, and metatranscriptomics.
