Sang Pemimpi is the much anticipated sequel to the Indonesian box office hit Laskar Pelangi (Rainbow Troops), both directed by Riri Riza and based on the popular novels by Andrea Hirata, about growing up on the remote Sumatran island of Belitung. Fast forwarding from the care free days of Laskar Pelangi, Sang Pemimpi picks up in the 1980s, where it continues to follow the life of Ikal, now hanging with his cousin Arai and their friend Jimbron. In order for them to continue their education, the boys must leave their village for the far away port city of Manggar where they each begin their inspiring march to adulthood in their own unique way. The soundtrack features tunes from the pop bands Gigi and Ungu.
