The award-winning play is based on V-Day Founder/playwright Eve Ensler's interviews with more than 200 women. With humor and grace the piece celebrates women’s sexuality and strength. Through this play and the liberation of this one word, countless women throughout the world have taken control of their bodies and their lives. For more than twelve years, The Vagina Monologues has given voice to experiences and feelings not previously exposed in public.

The Vagina Monologues is made up of a varying number of monologues read by a varying number of women. Every monologue somehow relates to the vagina, be it through sex, love, rape, menstruation, female genital mutilation, masturbation, birth, orgasm, the variety of names for the vagina, or simply as a physical aspect of the body. A recurring theme throughout the piece is the vagina as a tool of female empowerment, and the ultimate embodiment of individuality.

Performance Dates:

19 April 2012 at 7pm in HIG 110 - Special Talk Back Event with this year's beneficiary, Joyful Heart Foundation
20 April 2012 at 7pm in HIG 110 - ASL Interpretors available (this date only)
21 April 2012 at 3pm on the Kennedy Theatre Lawn (Outdoor performance) All proceeds will go to VDay and the Joyful Heart Foundation, Hawai`i


Ticket Information
Student tickets will cost $5 and general tickets will cost $10. You can purchase your ticket at Campus Center starting Monday April 16th or you can purchase your ticket at the front door of HIG 110 1 hour before the show.
