A Young American in Iran

The Center for Biographical Research presents: Tom Klobe will relate his experiences as a Peace Corps Volunteer in a remote Iranian village in the mid-1960s and how this prepared him for his subsequent career. He will talk about writing his recent book A Young American in Iran and what he discovered regarding the interrelatedness of the literary and visual arts and the considerations that make each effective.
Tom Klobe is professor emeritus of Islamic and Medieval art and founding director of the University of Hawaii Art Gallery. During his 29-year tenure at UH he organized and designed over 200 exhibitions, five of which received the prestigious Print Casebook Award for Best in Exhibition Design. His book Exhibitions: Concept, Planning and Design was published in 2012.
