SUMMER 2021 SCHOLARSHIP
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
You are eligible for our scholarship if you meet the following requirements:
- Be of Hawaiian ancestry.
- Be a classified undergraduate student at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
- Demonstrate financial need based on the Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) found in the Student Aid Report (SAR) from the 2020-2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Possess a cumulative undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 2.50 or better (on a 4.00 scale).
PREFERENCE
Interested individuals who meet the criteria above are encouraged to apply. Note that applicants who also meet the additional criteria below will be given priority consideration.
- Graduated from one of the Manawa Kūpono’s target schools:
(Ke Kula Kaiapuni ʻo Ānuenue, James B. Castle, Hālau Kū Māna, Hilo, Kailua, Molokaʻi, Nānākuli, Waiʻanae, and Waimea). - Are graduating Summer 2021 from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
- Need to make up credits to proceed to the next class level.

The application and all required documents must be submitted through Manawa Kūponoʻs Dropbox. Applications received after the deadline will be deemed late and may not be not considered. Manawa Kūpono will not be responsible for any lost or delayed application and/or supporting documents.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
To be considered, please submit:
- Manawa Kūpono Scholarship Application.
- Proof of Hawaiian ancestry (Please only submit one copy of any of the following: Applicant’s Birth Certificate(s), Department of Hawaiian Home Land lessee (DHHL), Hawaiian Registry at OHA, Operation ʻOhana at OHA, or Kamehameha Schools Hoʻoulu Hawaiian Data Center Verification Letter).
- Personal Essay (two pages max) addressing the following questions:
What do you feel is your kuleana as a Native Hawaiian?
How has your education contributed to who you are today? - Current Resume.
- Copy of completed 2020–2021 Student Aid Report (SAR) from Free Application for Federal Student Aid www.fafsa.gov.
- Transcripts from all colleges attended. Unofficial (STAR) transcripts accepted.
