The ASGPB genomics infrastructure currently consists of an Applied Biosystems 3730XL DNA Analyzer and an Illumina MiSeq Sequencer.
Applied Biosystems 3730XL DNA Analyzer
Utilizing a 96-capillary Applied Biosystems 3730XL DNA Analyzer and Big Dye Terminator chemistry v3.1, we offer DNA sequencing services for a wide range of templates including plasmid DNA, PCR products, Cosmid DNA, and Bacterial Artificial Chromosomes (BACs). We routinely provide ~600-800 bases per reaction, providing the template is of high quality. Turnaround time for Sanger sequencing is generally 24-48 hours from receipt of the template and primers, depending on the workload. Additional services such as template preparation will add to the turnaround time. Data are supplied by electronic abi format.
Illumina MiSeq
We offer next-generation sequencing using the Illumina MiSeq, a sequencing-by-synthesis platform. It is suitable for applications such as small genome sequencing (de novo, resequencing), metagenomics, transcriptome sequencing (RNA-Seq, small RNA), targeted sequencing, ChIP-Seq, and methylation analysis. Various sequencing kits provide the flexibility to select the read lengths and throughput needed for your project. The MiSeq produces a maximum of 25 million reads with lengths of up to 2 x 300 bp per run (15 Gb output).
