Laulima Updated to Sakai 20.6

Below is a list of some of the changes on the Laulima system after upgrading from Sakai 19.6 to 20.4. (12/26/21)

User interface slightly changed:
Some interface elements have changed in Sakai 20.

  • Several tools have a new look with items in slightly different places
  • When scrolling down a page, a clickable arrow will appear to jump back to the top

 

Site Info Tool (for instructors/maintainers)

  • New! Date Manager tool provides a new way to update due dates in a site
  • Manage Groups has a few new options for Auto Groups

 

Assignments Tool (for instructors)

  • New grading user interface includes a document preview feature

 

Gradebook Tool

  • Several new options in the new Gradebook tool:
    • Full screen mode and resizable columns
    • Section column allows instructors to view which section a student is in without having to filter the list
    • Ability to message students from within Gradebook
  • Reminder: You cannot submit grades to Banner via the new Gradebook (Instructors), but you can still upload grades via Gradebook Classic

 

Tests & Quizzes Tool (for instructors)

  • New Trash tab, removed tests can be restored from that tab
  • Ability to make a question "Extra Credit"
  • Ability to designate feedback start/end dates

 

Other

  • Some html attributes associated with tables are being deprecated including align, bgcolor, borders, cellpadding, and more. You might be able to manually add these via the source html or on the table properties add in some rules in the Advance tab, but the interface may not show the (previously) standard options for now.
  • In the rich text editor, additional new pre-formatted templates are available
