Regent
Michael A. Dahilig
After serving three years as the student regent, Michael A. Dahilig was re-appointed to a term as an at-large regent in 2009.
Dahilig is a former Associated Students of the University of Hawaii president and member of the UH Manoa Campus Center Board. He received Manoa’s 2003 Student Service and Leadership Distinction Award and the United Filipino Council of Hawaii’s 2007 Outstanding Youth award. He serves on the boards of the Hawaii Filipino Lawyers Association, National Federation of Filipino American Associations, Sariling Gawa Youth Foundation and the Kauai Filipino Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the Pacific Century Fellows Class of 2012.
Currently serving as director of planning for the County of Kauai, Dahilig also served as an attorney with the Kauai county attorney’s office. He prevously served as law clerk with the Hon. Randal G. B. Valenciano of the Fifth Circuit Court of the State of Hawaii and worked as an urban planner in the private sector.
A member of the Hawaii Bar, Dahilig received his juris doctor with certification in environmental law from the William S. Richardson School of Law. He holds a master’s in urban and regional planning and a BS with honors in geology and geophysics from Manoa.
