Beta Phi Mu Initiates to be Inducted on May 15 at Spring Grad Dinner
New initiates to the Xi Chapter of Beta Phi Mu will be inducted into the international honor society in library and information science on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at the LIS Spring 2014 Graduation Dinner at The Willows, 901 Hausten Street, Honolulu, Hawaii. The Xi Chapter will also award its annual scholarship to Storm Stoker at the dinner. Members are encouraged to join us at The Willows at 5:30 p.m.
Beta Phi Mu membership is by invitation only. The UH LIS faculty select graduates from among the top 25 percent of each graduating class. They look for candidates who have demonstrated excellence in academics, as well as dedicated service to the profession, the LIS program, and to fellow students. You may join any time after you have been nominated; however, our initiation ceremony is only held once each year, usually a week after the May commencement. There is a one-time $85 initiation fee, which is sent to BPM national headquarters. Members should renew their BPM memberships by joining a chapter. Xi Chapter charges a one-time $25 initiation fee which finances our initiation ceremony, scholarship and other activities.
