October 15, 12:00pm - 1:00pmMānoa Campus, Virtual - Zoom
Join us for Kaka'ako Campus Compliance Week 2021, which will feature guest speaker Jodi Ito, UH System's Chief Information Officer. On Friday, October 15, 2021 from 12:00-1:00, Jodi will present by Zoom about "Ransomware? What's the Big Deal?" Ransomware attacks hit record numbers in 2021 with a 130% increase in the first six months of 2021. An increase in attacks against academic institutions has prompted the FBI's Cyber Division to issue a warning bulletin titled "Increase in PYSA Ransomware Targeting Education Institutions." This session will highlight why universities are targeted, describe the anatomy of a ransomware attack, and provide some basic mitigation strategies against cyberattacks in general.
