Free Assessment of Personal Video Collections, 9:00am-12:00pm, Courtyard
Bring your personal film and videotape collections to our table in the Courtyard where the ‘Ulu‘ulu Archives staff will be on-hand to give you tips for caring for your films/videotapes and to also provide advice for digitizing your videos.

E hele mai! Come and join us in the campus courtyard for ʻŌlelo Maʻamau and Hoʻokani Honouliuli. Spend an hour with us learning Hawaiian phrases, common sayings and building a solid Hawaiian vocabulary word bank. Also, bring your instruments, song books and voices while we spend the next hour sharing Hawaiian music and songs in an informal jam session. If you no more instruments or song books, mai hopohopo-no worry we have some for you to borrow!

'Onipa'a: Turning Points, 9:30am-11:00am, ‘Ulu‘ulu Exhibition
Come learn about two important turning points in Hawai‘i history - the overthrow of the Kingdom of Hawai‘i (Jan. 17, 1893) and the commemoration march and events held at ‘Iolani Palace on the 100th anniversary of the overthrow in 1993. UHWO Faculty members Dr. Leilani Basham, Dr. Masahide Kato, and Dr. Kealani Cook will present research on both events and share how each has impacted the people of Hawai'i. ‘Ulu‘ulu Archive will also show historic footage of the 1993 march.

Film screening: "When Voices Meet", 3:30pm-6:20pm, ‘Ulu‘ulu Exhibition
The documentary, "When Voices Meet" by Sharon Katz is an inspiring, global story of determination and hope despite tremendous obstacles, and it shows a South Africa we all need to remember.
Game Night, 5:00pm-8:00pm, C-214 Student Lounge
Hang out at the Student Lounge, play games (Monopoly, cards, True Colors, etc.) and enjoy some coffee, teas and assorted snacks and make some new friends! You are welcome to bring a board game to share with fellow students.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 16
Garden Workday Party, 8:00am-11:00am, Mala/Garden
Please join Dr. Albie Miles, Assistant Professor of Sustainable Community Food Systems, for this hands on workshop in the UHWO Student Organic Garden. We will learn to prepare soil, build compost, plant fruit trees, install irrigation, sow seed and weed. All are welcome. Bring water, a healthy snack to share, work clothes, sun hat, shoes, and any other essential personal items. We look forward to working with you!
