Learn about participating in the the Hawaiʻi State Legislative Internship Program from a panel of distinguished speakers. The panelists include:
- former Hawaiʻi Congresswoman, Colleen Hanabusa
- former Hawai’i State Senator, Dwight Takamine
- former Special Assistant to Lt. Governor Shan Tsutsui and UHWO alum, Rufino Dan Magliba IV
- President – Associated Students of UHWO (ASUHWO) and former UHWO Hawai’i State Legislative Intern, Isaiah Baclaan
- Political Science Professor, Dr. Masahide Kato
- Executive Assistant to the Chancellor, Ken Inouye
The Hawaiʻi State Legislative Internship Program provides UH West Oʻahu students with the unique opportunity to work with legislators in either the Hawaiʻi State House of Representatives and the Senate. Interns will gain insights into elective politics and observe the legislative decision-making process. Interns work an average of 40 hours per week assisting a senator or representative from January through May 2017. Interns will get paid for work and receive the full cost of spring 2017 tuition while earning 12 academic credits.
