Seminar: "Dearest Lenny: Letters from Japan & the Making of a World Maestro"

Dr. Mari Yoshihara, Professor of American Studies at UHM, will discuss her new book, “Dearest Lenny,” which interweaves an account of Leonard Bernstein’s transformation from an American icon into a world maestro with an intimate story of his relationships with two unknown Japanese individuals seen through personal correspondence.
Dr. Christine Yano (UHM Anthropology) will lead the conversation about the book’s key themes and findings as well as the research and writing process.
