ORE Seminar: Recent, current, and near future underwater construction projects

September 28, 3:30pm - 4:30pm
Mānoa Campus, Watanabe Hall 112 and Zoom, see description for ID and password

The Fleet Naval Construction Force is an essential enabler of Fleet maneuver, sea control, and sea denial from the littorals. The mission of the Fleet Naval Construction Force is to translate Fleet Commander’s requirements into engineering tasks and to execute them successfully. This presentation will focus on the “engineering kill chain”, including all the discrete tasks involved in between identification of a requirement through to execution. An unclassified discussion will describe the reasoning for which locations are chosen and why. Additionally, a brief discussion of the capabilities of the terrestrial and underwater construction force will be given. Examples will be given of recent, current, and near future waterfront construction projects that were and are being executed by Sailors from the Naval Construction Force (Seabees). Also discussed is the relationship between the Seabees and the Navy’s Ocean Facilities Program. Meeting ID: 961 6222 2366 Passcode: OREseminar
