Keiki activities at this year's Hoʻolauleʻa include face-painting

The 2012 Windward Hoʻolauleʻa, called A Homegrown Celebration, will be on Saturday, October 6, 9 a.m.–8 p.m. at Windward Community College. The free, family-friendly festival, co-sponsored by the college and the Kāneʻohe Business Group, features top island entertainment, award-winning hula films, unique arts and crafts, keiki rides and activities and ʻono food.

There will be cultural demonstrations including laʻau lapaʻau (Hawaiian medicinal herbs) and Hawaiian fiber arts with Windward instructors Krista Steinfeld and Lufi Luteru as well as woodcarving with Jordan Souza and students from his Hawaiian woodcarving classes.

Entertainment headliners this year include Grammy award-winner John Cruz and Nā Hōkū Hanohano winner Teresa Bright. Also in the line-up are Aaron Mahi, Martin Pahinui, George Kuo and Chinky Mahoe’s Hālau Hula O Kawaili’ulā. View the complete entertainment line-up on the Hoʻolauleʻa website.
