Faculty members may shelter their lump sum temporary salary reduction payment from federal and state income taxes by
utilizing the University's 403(b) Tax Deferred Annuity (TDA) program and/or the 457 Island Savings Plan.

2012 Open Enrollment Period for Pre-Tax Transportation Benefits Pilot Program (05/08/12)

The open enrollment period for the 2012 Pre-Tax Transportation Benefits Pilot Program (PTBP) is May 9, 2012 through June 21, 2012. The PTBP
allows eligible employees on O‘ahu to purchase a monthly adult bus pass on a pre-tax basis. Employees enrolled during open enrollment will
begin their payroll deduction on July 20, 2012 for the August 2012 bus pass. Manoa employees shall pick-up their bus pass at the UHM Parking
Office, and Community College employees on O'ahu in accordance with campus procedures. As a reminder, employees may enroll in the PTBP anytime
during the year to purchase Handi-Van fare coupons or Vanpool seat fare vouchers on a pre-tax basis.

Employees’ Benefits Fair – May 9, 2012 (04/20/12)

The Employees’ Benefits Fair, sponsored by The Island Savings Plan, will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Bishop
Museum from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Representatives from The Island Savings Plan, investment fund providers, HI529
College Savings Plan, Employees’ Retirement System (ERS), Employer-Union Health Benefits Trust Fund (EUTF) and the
various health plan carriers will be available to answer your questions.

The IRS recently announced increased contribution limits for the 403(b) tax deferred annuity plan. The
new limit applies to contributions in the 2012 calendar year. Information and instructions to change a
participant’s contributions is available in this document.
