The 2008 Governor's Awards for Employee of the Year, State Manager of the Year, and TEAM of the Year
from each State department will be recognized in a public ceremony on Friday, October 17 at the
State Capitol Auditorium at 2:30 p.m. A flyer announcing the ceremony may be viewed

department honorees may be viewed here.

MEMO: Special Compensation Adjustment for APT Personnel (10/02/08)

Supervisors may begin nominating eligible APT employees for Performance Awards on November 1, 2008. Last day to
nominate employees via the on-line SCA system is November 30, 2008.

MEMO: UH Athletics Pride Days: First Fridays (08/18/08)
|
|
President McClain has established the first Friday of each month during the academic year "UH Athletics Pride Days". On
these designated Fridays, employees are encourage to wear "acceptable attire that promotes the UH athletic teams."
Beginning August 29, 2008, 10% discounts on
all regular-priced apparel will be available via UH Bookstores systemwide and Rainbowtique stores on the last Friday of
the month and throughout the weekend.

Graduate Division PNF Bypass Processing (08/15/08)

After the PeopleSoft and Banner applications are modified, departments will no longer need to obtain prior approval from
Graduate Division before hiring Graduate Assistants. The current process should continue until you are told otherwise
via email announcements. Testing continues and you will be informed when this new process is moved into production status.

MEMO: Improve Timeliness of First Paycheck (08/14/08)

Vice President Callejo has sent to University Executives a memo announcing the availability of a modified
new hire checklist to assist in improving
the timeliness of the first paycheck to new employees. The checklist now separates the necessary documents
by due date.

Island Savings Plan (07/18/08)

|
On July 1, 2008, CitiStreet, LLC (“CitiStreet”), the Third Party Administrator/record keeper for the Island Savings Plan,
became a part of the ING Group (“ING”). ING is one of the world’s largest and most respected financial institutions and a leading provider of retirement and
wealth management services. The transition is anticipated to be seamless, and this change will not affect your account or investment(s) in the Plan. Rest assured,
you do not need to do anything and can continue to access your account as you do today. In the next few months, CitiStreet’s name will be changed to ING. More
detailed information will be featured in the Plan’s next 3rd Quarter newsletter.

Updated Faculty Data: 2007-08 Academe Annual Report on the Economic Status of the Profession (04/22/08)

The 2007-08 Annual Report on the Economic Status of the Profession, published in the March-April issue of the Academe will
reflect incorrect data for the University of Hawai'i at Manoa. The salary rating will be a lower percentile as it was erroneously
computed based on UH at Hilo data. Click here for a complete listing of all
UH campuses which includes correct Manoa data. The July-August Supplemental Update of the Academe will publish the corrected data.

Letter to UH 403(b) Program Participants – 403(b) Regulations Effective 9/25/07 (09/17/07)
|

The IRS recently published a major rewrite of the 403(b) tax deferred annuity regulations.
These regulations now require the University to monitor the 403(b) program closely and become directly involved in
reviewing and approving certain transactions. A part of the regulations becomes effective on September 25, 2007.
