This document replaces Article XXI - Salaries in the 2003-09 collective bargaining agreement. The revised article
contains the lecturer fee schedule, additional compensation fee schedule, and non-credit fee schedule effective January 1, 2010.

COBRA Continuation Coverage Assistance Extended (01/04/10)
|
|
On December 21, 2009, President Obama signed the Fiscal Year 2010 Defense Appropriations Act which extended the
eligibility period for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 COBRA premium reduction for an
additional 2 months (through February 28, 2010) and extended the maximum period for receiving the subsidy
for an additional 6 months (from 9 to 15 months). Employees (and qualifying dependents) that were involuntarily
terminated and otherwise eligible for COBRA between September 1, 2008 and February 28, 2010 may be eligible for
the federal premium subsidy. Eligible individuals pay only 35 percent of their COBRA premiums and the remaining
65 percent is reimbursed to the coverage provider through a tax credit. More information is available at the

Hybrid upgrade information and procedures to transfer funds for 403(b) Tax-deferred annuity participants (10/21/09)

Effective October 1, 2009, eligible Hybrid members have the option of upgrading their non-contributory service to Hybrid service. Current and former participants of the UH 403(b) plan may use funds from their 403(b) tax-deferred annuity plan to pay for the cost of the upgrade.

Alternative Work Week Memorandum of Agreement for APT Employees (03/05/09)

The University and the Hawai‘i Government Employees Association (HGEA) have negotiated an Alternative Work Week (AWW)
memorandum of agreement (MOA) for APT employees. The effective date of the MOA is March 1, 2009.
This MOA provides included and excluded APT employees the opportunity for more flexible work schedules. Participation in the AWW program
is subject to the supervisor’s approval and must be consistent with operational needs.

Letter to UH 403(b) Program Participants – 403(b) Regulations Effective 9/25/07 (09/17/07)

The IRS recently published a major rewrite of the 403(b) tax deferred annuity regulations.
These regulations now require the University to monitor the 403(b) program closely and become directly involved in
reviewing and approving certain transactions. A part of the regulations becomes effective on September 25, 2007.
