The University of Hawaiʻi Bookstores and Rainbowtique unveiled two new t-shirts designed by UH Mānoa students Brigette Agustin and Avree Ito-Fujita. They received the most “likes” on the Mānoa Bookstore’s Facebook page in this past spring’s HI Pride Design Contest.

The shirts are available at all Rainbowtique locations, as well as at the Mānoa Bookstore, and other UH bookstores on select campuses.

Agustin is a junior majoring in civil engineering. Her bold graphic of a shaka silhouette dotting the “i” in “Hi” was her way of representing her Maui and Hawaiʻi island roots. “I also wanted to show what UH Mānoa students are capable of,” she said. “Go Warriors!”

Kapolei native Ito-Fujita is also a junior and she is pursuing a major in creative media. Her design features an ʻukulele with the words “HI Pride” forming the head and tuning pegs, and the Hawaiian island chain outlining the body of the musical instrument. She was inspired to enter this year’s contest after seeing the designs by last year’s winners.

Agustin and Ito-Fujita won a semester’s worth of textbooks from the Mānoa Bookstore and a Rainbowtique gift certificate.

“The greatest prize was the support from the voters,” said Avree. “I hope my design conveys the unique spirit of HI Pride.”
