The plan covers all operating and advisory units associated with Maunakea and will make operations and management more efficient, effective and transparent.
The California Institute of Technology Submillimeter Observatory and the UH Hilo Hōkū Keʻa teaching telescope are both making progress in the extensive decommissioning process, according to an update to the Board of Regents.
The community event, organized by the Office of Maunakea Management, targets invasives that threaten native species at Hale Pōhaku at the mid-level section of the mountain.
The final version of the rules is the result of extensive consultation and public outreach that included Native Hawaiian organizations, Hawaiʻi Island business organizations, commercial tour operators and government agencies.
