Robin Kandel was born in Detroit in 1961. She has a BFA from the University of Michigan, 1983, and in 2001 she received a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant. Kandel is represented by the Andrea Schwartz Gallery in San Francisco at which she has had numerous solo exhibitions. She also had solo or two-person exhibitions at Hartnell College Gallery, Salinas, California, 2002 and 1995; Cabrillo College Gallery, Aptos, California, 2001; Mirage Gallery, Tokyo, 2000; Gallery éf, Tokyo, 1998; and D. P. Fong Gallery, San Jose, 1996. Her work was included in Collapsing Histories at Daigo Fukuryu Maru Museum and Gallery éf, Tokyo, 2004, and the Mary Porter Sesnon Gallery, University of California, Santa Cruz, 2003.
