Grade Point Average (GPA) Minimum
All students enrolled in the Program must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above. For more information regarding academic progress requirements, please refer to the Office of Graduate Education website.
Student Records
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords eligible students certain rights with respect to their education records. To learn more about FERPA, please consult the UH Manoa Record & Registration site. The Program will not release student information to spouses or others without prior written approval from the student.

Space Policy
The LIS Space, which consists of classroom 003F, 003G, the diner, and the common area, exist within Hamilton Library and therefore has strict food and beverage rules. Please refer to the LIS Space Policy for a full summary of the policy.
Academic Rights and Freedoms of Students
The University of Hawaii, like all state universities, embraces those aspects of academic freedom that guarantee the freedom to teach and the freedom to learn. Free inquiry and free expression for both students and faculty are indispensable and inseparable. Students, whether from the United States or from foreign countries, as members of the academic community are encouraged to develop a capacity for critical judgment and to engage in sustained and independent search for truth.
Students from foreign countries, as full participants in the educational process at the University, have the right to pursue formal knowledge, verbal or written, in whatever directions and with whatever legitimately appropriate associations are necessary, without fear of reprisal.
For its part, the University guarantees all students the freedom of silence. No student is required to engage in research on any topic or make statements of any kind, unless it is the student’s wish to do so.
The University would be most concerned if any government placed its own nationals in jeopardy for engaging in normal academic studies on a university campus; it urges other governments to accept the concepts of academic freedom prevalent here if they intend for their own nationals to study at this institution.
