Randy Abshier

The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa pitcher Randy Abshier earned Big West Pitcher of the Week recognition on March 11, making it the second in his career.

The pitcher turned in a strong outing March 9, against Rice University, matching a career high with 11 strikeouts over seven innings while holding them to just a run on two hits with only one walk. The senior did not allow a hit over the first 5.1 innings and has now matched a career high in strikeouts in two of his last three starts.

Absier has struck out 31 batters over his last three starts, the most in a three-game stretch by a Rainbow Warrior pitcher. Abshier has also fanned at least nine batters in six of his last seven starts at home dating back to last year.
