Governor Ige honors UH athletes and coaches

Governor David Ige recognized more than 50 student athletes and coaches from UH Mānoa in a special proclamation ceremony.

Eran Ganot has been named the head men’s basketball coach at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.

The group will work closely with Chancellor Robert Bley-Vroman and incoming Athletics Director David Matlin.

David Matlin has been named the new athletics director of the University of Hawaiʻi.

The search committee for the next UH Mānoa athletics director submitted its recommendation UH Mānoa Chancellor Robert Bley-Vroman on March 17.

The UH Mānoa Athletics Department has received an additional gift of $1.2 million from an anonymous donor.

Norman Okimoto, president of Hawaiian Tel Federal Credit Union, joins the director of athletics search advisory committee, replaces John Dean.

UH has received the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s Notice of Allegations regarding the men’s basketball program.

In fiscal year 2013–14, the UH Athletics Department generated $66 million in Hawaiʻi spending on labor, goods and services.
