Grievance Procedure
KOKUA recognizes that disagreements may occur about disability eligibility, the reasonable nature of student accommodation requests and/or the implementation of disability accommodations. Students can expect to be treated with respect, receive a timely response, remain free of retaliation, and have an opportunity to address their concerns.
If you believe that you are not being provided with appropriate disability access services, you are encouraged to express your concerns to your KOKUA Counselor.
If further informal resolution is sought about eligibility and/or any accommodation denial, students can pursue an internal appeal which will be reviewed by KOKUA's Director/Associate Director.
If a disagreement continues to exist about eligibility and/or any accommodation denial made by KOKUA, students are entitled to appeal KOKUA's decisions. To file a formal complaint based on the denial of your requested disability access services or to file a complaint alleging disability discrimination, you can contact the Office of the Vice Provost for Student Success (QLC 409, 808-956-3290, vpss@hawaii.edu).
