The University of Hawaiʻi Alumni Makers’ Market returns to The Royal Hawaiian Resort in Waikīkī on August 9, 6–9 p.m., with nearly twice the number of alumni-owned small businesses from last year’s inaugural event.

The event, presented by the UH Office of Alumni Relations in partnership with the UH Alumni Association, will donate a portion of the proceeds to help address student food insecurity at the UH System’s 10 campuses.

General admission tickets may be purchased online starting July 5. Admission includes food and drinks, and the opportunity to purchase merchandise.

Nearly all of the businesses that participated in the first event last year are among the nearly three dozen food, beverage and small businesses, including Pop Culture Artisan Pops, Pint + Jigger, Ports and Paws and Mari’s Gardens.

“Last year was really, really fun. It was nice to be able to work alongside other UH alumni entrepreneurs,” said Justin Udom, who founded Pop Culture Artisan Pops nearly three years ago. “It was a really nice community and it made me proud to be a UH alumnus.”

In addition, more alumni businesses will join the event, including Eden in Love, whose owners, Tanna and Bryson Dang are both UH alumni.

“All of us from Eden are UH alumni, so it’s an honor to be part of an event for the university that helped shape our foundation as business owners, creatives and entrepreneurs,” said Tanna Dang. “The years we spent on the Mānoa campus created lifelong values that helped Eden become the company it is today.”

Several businesses will feature exclusive UH-licensed products such as shirts and bags, including Eden in Love’s “Eden x UH Mānoa collection,” which is also available at the UH Mānoa Bookstore.
