Service Fees for Students without Insurance
The University Health Services Mānoa operations are largely supported based on fee-for service revenues and insurance claims submissions for medical services. If you do not have health insurance, you may expect the following:
- You will be expected to pay a visit fee. First visit as a new patient: range $23-$28. Subsequent visits: range $15-$20, depending on type and complexity of visit.
- You will be charged on a discounted scale for procedures and lab tests.
- Visits to the Specialty Clinics - Sports Medicine and Dermatology will be charged the same as other medical visits. Visits with the Dietitian range from $30-$40.
- Family planning services and physical exams have separate fee schedules from the general medical clinic visit fees. Call Specialty Clinics at (808) 956-8965 for more information.
- You will be responsible for the cost of medications and supplies. The UHSM Pharmacy provides prescription and over-the-counter medications at reasonable rates, but does not submit claims to drug insurance plans.
- Payments are expected at the time of service. A hold will be placed on your academic record for any unpaid balances.
We highly recommend that you enroll in a health insurance plan, as you may require medical care beyond what University Health Services can provide. Feel free to ask our staff about UH-endorsed student plans.
