Teacher! Teacher!

April 16, 4:00pm - 5:30pm
Mānoa Campus, Architecture Auditorium, 2410 Campus Road, Honlulu

Teacher! Teacher! integrates research and performance to explore the landscape of public education through the eyes of first-year teachers. Researchers interviewed 18 first-year teachers (graduates of UHM College of Education) and an ensemble of performers devised a series of scenes, dances, poems, metaphors, and vignettes through playbuilding. The culminating performance communicates individual stories as well as themes many first-year teachers share, such as what it's like to be new to a school, relationships with students, and the challenges/rewards of the profession.

Co-directed by Jamie Simpson Steele (Institute for Teacher Education, College of Education) and Nicholas Brown (MFA Theatre for Young Audiences Candidate). Supported by the Edward A. "Skeep" Langhans Enhancement of the Student Experience Award. Admission is FREE.
