
Senior soccer player Jorge Martinez and freshman volleyball standout Emily Wade are named University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Pepsi Athletes of the Week selected on November 17.
Martinez scored three goals and had two assists in three matches in the final three matches of his collegiate soccer career. Martinez had UH Hilo’s two scores in a 2-0 win over Holy Names and had a goal and an assist in a 2-1 victory over Academy of Art. In his final match on Saturday, he garnered a final assist and finished the season as UH Hilo’s leading scorer with seven goals, three assists and 17 total points.
Middle blocker Wade played another big part in UH Hilo’s success on their recent four-match road trip in southern California, having a total of 54 kills in the four matches. She also had 24 blocks and was in double figures in all four matches, with bests of 16 against Azusa Pacific and 15 versus Biola.
