This message was shared with the students, faculty, and staff of the 10-campus University of Hawaiʻi system on March 20, 2020.

Aloha UH employees,

Below is additional guidance for employees requesting to work remotely from home during the COVID-19 health crisis.

Employees can start the process by submitting (1) a Voluntary Work From Home Request and Agreement (“Request”) (PDF) to their supervisor, and (2) an informal written description of the duties he or she is able to perform from home—via email or other documentation. Supervisors are encouraged to timely respond to all Requests.

Employees may start to work remotely immediately upon approval of their Request. However, the employee and supervisor must formalize a more detailed work plan (PDF) (template) within 5 working days.

If a Request was already approved prior to this guidance, a new Request does not need to be submitted. However, a work plan must still be completed.

To assist supervisors, please see the supervisor guidelines (PDF) and helpful instructions on how to evaluate the work-from-home requests (PDF).

Thank you again for your patience as we navigate this unprecedented health crisis together. We hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

University of Hawaiʻi
