Regents’ Medal for Excellence in Teaching
Teaching Medal Award Winner
Jody-Lynn Storm
Windward
Jody-Lynn Storm is an instructor of mathematics at Windward Community College.
Regarded as a teacher who truly cares for her students, Storm shows incredible patience and encouragement when material becomes hard to understand. Known as a “cheerleader” for her students, she has demonstrated consistency and respect inside and outside the classroom for those seeking additional help. The countless hours spent on curriculum are reflected in classes.
“Jody possesses a great sense of humor and challenges us to keep a positive outlook no matter how ridiculous a math problem seems at the time,” one student commented. Storm is that teacher students could accidently call, “Mom,” and not be ashamed about it.
The Regents’ Medal for Excellence in Teaching is awarded by the Board of Regents as tribute to faculty members who exhibit an extraordinary level of subject mastery and scholarship, teaching effectiveness and creativity and personal values that benefit students. The board also awards the Regents’ Medal for Excellence in Research.
