University of Hawaiʻi President David Lassner provided an update to the UH Board of Regents on the universityʻs response to COVID-19 at the boardʻs monthly meeting held March 19, at Honolulu Community College. Lassner discussed UH’s guiding principles when it comes to mission and personal safety as well as the move to online delivery of courses and allowing employees, who are able, to work remotely from home.

UH is one of the great universities in this world,” said Lassner during the report. “We will not only survive, we will succeed and we will come out of this better than we were before. After this crisis we will be a very different place than we were before it. Our graduates will be the cornerstone of that new Hawaiʻi.”

Many of the regents participated via teleconferencing as the board practiced the recommended government guidance regarding social distancing.
