U H Hilo volleyball player
Bria Beale

For the second time in her Vulcan career, University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo senior outside hitter Bria Beale was named to the select 2020–21 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Volleyball Team. The senior was one of just eight players named to the team among nominees from the three NCAA Division II conferences in the west region—the Pacific West Conference, the California Collegiate Athletic Association and the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Beale has a 3.88 grade point average and graduated in spring 2021 with a BA in communications, a minor in sociology and an undergraduate SC in agriculture. This fall, she will pursue a graduate degree in counseling psychology.

Beale was one of just two players from the PacWest Conference to be named to the team.

Heading into her final collegiate season, Beale’s name is all over the UH Hilo career record book lists. Her 977 career kills ranks sixth all-time, her 99 service aces is fifth and her 855 digs lists seventh in the Vulcan record book.

Beale now advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-American ballot. The Academic All-American team will be announced in early July.
