The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo athletics program recognized their student-athletes at their annual UH Hilo Vulcans Athletics 2023–24 All-Sports Banquet last week, at The Arc of Hilo.

Men’s golf player Nicholas Gomez and women’s golf player Kiersten Saludares took home the male and female athletes of the year, respectively, while the men’s golf team claimed the Vulcan Team of the Year.

The Imua Vulcan award was introduced to the honors, recognizing one male and one female student-athlete for making strides in their personal athletic journeys. The recipients for this award were men’s basketball player Kalique Mitchell and women’s soccer player Megan Donovan.

Men’s soccer player David Mayser and women’s soccer player Filippa Graneld were honored as the Joe and Harriet Estrella Male Scholar-Athlete and Sakai and Harue Wakakuwa Female Scholar-Athlete, respectively, for earning the highest cumulative grade point average through at least five semesters as a Vulcan.

The Ramon Goya Academic Teams of the Year for highest combined GPA went to women’s cross country and women’s basketball.
