U.S. Department of Transportation Suspends Passenger Flights by China-Based Air Carriers [UPDATED]

[Updated June 22, 2020] On June 15, the U.S. Department of Transportation issued Order 2020-6-6 that amends the earlier order suspending passenger flight operations by China-based air carriers. This order allows for an aggregate of four weekly round-trip flights to and from the U.S. by China-based air carriers, equivalent to the amount allowed by Chinese aviation authorities for U.S.-based air carriers.

On June 3, the U.S. Department of Transportation issued an order that would suspend passenger flight operations to and from the U.S. by China-based air carriers. This order will take effect on June 16, 2020. The air carriers that would be affected are: Air China, Beijing Capital Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, and Xiamen Airlines.
