SEVP Rescinds July 6 Guidance for F-1 Enrollment in Fall 2020

On July 14, in a court hearing challenging the SEVP July 6 guidance, representatives for the government confirmed to the judge that the guidance and related FAQ published on July 7 have been rescinded. For now, guidance for online coursework will return to those published for spring and summer. More details are forthcoming, and an official announcement from SEVP is expected. You can read one of several published news reports here, and get a summary of the guidance and litigation at NAFSA's Covid-19 Critical Resources page.

For now, this means that continuing F-1 international students will not have to depart the U.S. if they take all online classes, regardless of what format their school uses for course delivery.
