DHS Extension and Redesignation of TPS for Burma (Myanmar)

On March 22, 2024,  the Department of Homeland Security announced the upcoming extension and redesignation of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Burma (Myanmar) for 18 months, from May 26, 2024 to November 25, 2025.

Details are availablein the Federal Register notice published on March 25, 2024. Once released, details will also be available through the USCIS official page on Temporary Protected Status.

Temporary Protected Status can be granted when conditions in a country temporarily prevent that country’s nationals from returning safely. Depending on the situation, students granted TPS may be granted benefits such as travel authorization or employment authorization.
