Get Help from the ITS Help Desk

Need help with Google@UH, Laulima, or MyUH, or have a problem with your computer? Call the ITS Help Desk! Help Desk Consultants are available for phone and email support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays! If you are on the Manoa campus, the ITS Help Desk also offers walk-in support at the Information Technology Center from Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm, and through the ITS Labs during posted hours. Walk-in support is not available on holidays.

Google@UH

Your UH Username provide access to G Suite services, such as Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Sites, Contacts, and Groups (UH-only account collaboration). These services have been branded Google@UH. You can optionally turn on even more G Suite services, such as Google Groups (for non-UH account collaboration) and YouTube, which are branded Google@UH Consumer Apps.

Stay Safe Online!

Technology is used everywhere - in our personal lives, school and business. Hackers and malicious actors are constantly looking to acquire your personal information and to compromise your computers, smartphones, smart TVs, networks and any other types of electronic technologies. You must be vigilant at all times!

Common tactics used by attackers to acquire your personal information and compromise your computers are:

  • Phishing emails (sending fraudulent emails appearing to be from legitimate businesses or trusted contacts attempting to get you to provide your personal information)
  • Malicious software (including ransomware and viruses) usually acquired by visiting infected websites or via phishing emails
  • Brute force password cracking (automated attempts to guess your password)

The best way to protect yourself is to:

  • Update your computer's software and applications regularly
  • Use strong passwords (and use UH's Multi-Factor Authentication to protect your UH credentials)
  • Use anti-virus software and update it regularly
  • Be suspicious of any unusual/suspicious communications (emails, phone calls, text messages, etc.)
  • Click on links only from trusted senders (hover over the link to view the URL redirection and, if in doubt, DO NOT click it)

And: Remember to Share With Care!

  • What you post can last a lifetime: Before posting online think about how it might be perceived now and in the future and who might see it.
  • Own your online presence: Set the privacy and security settings on web services and devices to your comfort level for information sharing. It's okay to limit how and with whom you share information.
  • Be aware of what's being shared: Be aware that when you share a post, picture or video online, you may also be revealing information about others. Be thoughtful when and how you share information about others.
  • Guard your date of birth (DoB), telephone number, and other private information: Things like your DoB, phone number, and mother's maiden name are important pieces of information used for verification. If a site asks for this information, consider whether or not sharing this information is absolutely necessary.

Register For Emergency Alerts

Register to receive emergency alerts through text message. Your emergency phone/text message information will only be used for one test a semester and in situations that threaten health & safety or for full campus closures. For those already registered, please log in and review your contact information to ensure it is up-to-date.

Hawaii Information Portal

University of Hawaiʻi employees received their first paycheck via the Hawaiʻi Information Portal (HIP), the state's new payroll system, on January 4, 2019.

Faculty and staff who did not enroll in direct deposit on or before December 14, 2018, or whose direct deposit information was entered incorrectly, will receive paper paychecks until their direct deposit enrollment is processed, and/or processed correctly.

Enrollment in direct deposit for a future pay period, or correction or changes to direct deposit information, can be done at any time by signing into HIP. Once you have successfully entered and submitted direct deposit information, it may take one to two pay periods to take effect. UH employees must still sign up for UH's Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) before signing into HIP to enter their direct deposit information.

Data Governance and Information Security

UH is subject to many different laws and regulations involving protection of sensitive information. The UH Data Governance Program (EP 2.215) provides oversight for the management of Institutional Data across the UH System and the UH Information Security Program and Data Classification Categories (EP 2.214) provides guidance on protecting UH sensitive data in compliance with the various regulations. This spring, a team comprised of the UH Data Governance Director, UH Chief Information Security Officer, Associate General Counsel, HIPAA Compliance Officer, and web accessibility coordinator will be hosting an online webcast - the date and time of the webcast will be posted online at:

Multi-Factor Authentication

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is available for all UH students, faculty, and staff. Several services require the use of MFA in order to help better ensure the security of personally identifiable information (PII), including confidential student information (through Banner 9 Admin Pages) and your own personal information (the new statewide Payroll system - Hawaii Information Portal or HIP, and the upcoming PeopleSoft HR 9.2 self-service). We encourage all faculty and staff to sign up for MFA.

High Performance Computing & Cyberinfrastructure

The ITS Cyberinfrastructure team supports data-intensive research and scholarship at UH with state-of-the-art resources, services and expertise. The high performance computing (HPC) cluster is free to use for all UH faculty and researchers and for students with the approval of their supervisors. Users may also purchase nodes, storage or compute time. Training workshops in programming, workflows and data analysis are offered several times a year.
