Description: | Dr. Ken Newcombe is a physical ecologist appointed to the Papua New Guinea government as energy planner. His mission is to develop alternative energy strategies for the emerging nation -- to use its trees and other vegetation as well as its hydro potential. In a study sponsored by UNESCO's Man and Biosphere Program, Dr. Newcombe and his team measure energy use in remote villages and a large town, and believe that the country is a microcosm of the world's energy problem. |
